THE DUAL WORD
FOR THE 2ND RAY OF LOVE-WISDOM

Again the first two stages of Intention and Visualization have been carefully followed and the four stages of the Projection have been carried through to their highest point. The vivid light of the second ray soul (the most vivid in this second ray solar system) dominates the light of form and radiates out to the triadal light. Then comes a moment of intense concentration and the peculiar Word of Power of the second ray is enunciated.

Of this Word, the dual symbol Sxprulxs takes form in the mind of the disciple and signifies the assertion: "I see the greatest Light." This statement has relation to the Central Spiritual Sun and not to the Heart of the Sun; it involves, if I might so express it, the most intense effort to see in the light the relation of the whole, and this is one of the most potent experiences to which the disciple can be subjected. It is not vision or even aspiration to see the vision. It is complete sight and of this the Masonic symbol of the "Eye of God," the "All-Seeing Eye," is the expression. It involves realization of the light of the divine countenance; of this the light of the soul is the dim reflection. The disciple has learnt the significance of solar and lunar light (soul and form light), but this is something other. It is the great obliterating light of reality itself, revealing the fact of the higher Lighted Way which leads to Nirvana."

1 + 6 + 7 + 9 + 3 +3 + 6 + 1 = [36] = 9

I would have you note that out of the 8 sounds that compose the word "SXPRULXS", six are predominantly along the 1st ray line of will, power, intelligence and organization and two are on the 2nd ray line. A fundamental duality is herein We have contained here in numerical symbolism a clear demarcation between the 1-3-5-7 ray line and the 2-4-6 ray line.

Furthermore, please also initially note the following duality. The sum of the two even numbers is "12" as the (X + X), or (6 + 6) = [12]. Number '12", the sum of the two even numbers is half the value of the sum of the odd numbers. The sum of the odd numbers is 24 as (1+7+9+3+3+1)=24) the number of Shamballa. The Tibetan states:

"The number 24 is of deep interest, expressing as it does the double 12 - the greater and the lesser zodiac. Just as the number 6 expresses space, so the number 24 expresses time, and is the key to the great cycle of manifestation. It is the clue to all cyclic appearance or incarnation. Its two figures define the method of evolution; 2 equals the quality of love-wisdom, working under the Law of Attraction and drawing man from one point of attainment to another; whilst 4 indicates the technique of conflict and the achieving of harmony through that conflict; 4 is also the number of the human hierarchy, and 2 is the number of the spiritual hierarchy.

Technically speaking, until the third initiation, the initiate is "occupied with the relationship of the 2 and the 4; these, when placed side by side, connote relation; and when placed the one above the other, the initiate passes from the 4 into the 2."

Needless to say, there is much more to say anent these figures, but the above will suffice to show the satisfactory nature of esoteric numerology - not numerology as understood today". SXPRULXS is therefore a dual symbol in the mind of the initiate connoting the union of the greater and the lesser zodiacs. The relations between the greater and the lesser cycles of the zodiac are key to understanding the constitution of cosmic man from the point of view of the Central Spiritual Sun.

Once again, to be perfectly clear; the cosmic Whole, is seen in the union of the greater and lesser zodiacs and this is symbolized by the sum of the two even numbers, that produce the "12", and the sum of the odd numbers, which produce the "24". The symbolism of the two six's is also important to note. The Tibetan writes that in an ancient book on numbers the initiate is defined as: "the one who has experienced and expressed 666 and found it naught; who has dropped the 6 and become the 66, and thus has found himself upon the Way"

Later, again, D.K. goes on to say that "he drops the 6 and becomes the perfected 6 - form, the instrument and expression of spirit." He also writes: "Number "6", being the number of the sixth ray, is therefore the number of idealism and of that driving force which makes mankind move forward upon the path and in response to the vision and press upward towards the light. It is in reality devotion to an unseen goal, ever on ahead, and an unswerving recognition of the objective. The number 6 is the number of form or of manifestation, which is the agent or medium through which this realization comes and by which the consciousness is unfolded."

SYMBOLISM OF THE 8 SOUNDS

SXPRULXS is composed of eight sounds.

The 2nd ray is a dual ray and correspondingly the number eight is a dual figure. In reality, "8", is the number of the Hierarchy and it signifies cooperation with the purpose of the Hierarchy, the interpreting will of God. The initiate is conscious, immutable and aware of the two extremes of the divine expression: the sense of individual identity and the sense of universality.

These are fused and blended in the One. Of this One the divine Hermaphrodite is the concrete symbol - the union in one of the pairs of opposites, negative and positive, male and female. In the state of being which we call the monadic, no difference is recognized between these two because it is realized that there is no identity apart from universality and no appreciation of the universal apart from the individual realization.

The sum of the 8 sounds produces the sound of the number "9", the number of Initiation. The sound of the "9" is the whirlwind, it is the "hissing" and rushing forth of fohat through space. It embodies the "R" of snarl of the Canine in nature and contains the infinite powers of the Feminine in nature.

This highly symbolical occult value I will momentarily consider but let me first begin with an analysis of the significance of figure "8" in relation to SXPRULXS. In the system of esoteric numerology, the universal symbolism of digit "8" is profound. In the first place, the number 8 inaugurates ever a new cycle, following after the number 7, which is that of a relative perfection. It is the number of the Christ-consciousness; just as 7 is the number of man, and 9 is the number of initiation. The symbolism of the "8" is also connected in the initiate's mind with the divine trinity of the Point, Triad and the Quaternary as (1+3+4=8).

The "8" stands for the eight siddhis or psychic powers and are called the eight perfections. It best symbolizes the "eight potencies of the Christ", or the eight kinds of activity which will bring about the needed results; or, again, the eight Means to Yoga or union of the soul. It is said "eight energies make a Master". The chief symbol of the "8", is the eight-sided diamond. It is the number of the Cosmic Christ. In the Universal System , the "8" is seen as embodying the cosmic soul Principle and ever stands for the eternal and spiral motion of cycles - the Alpha and the Omega.

The "8", best represents the "eight right ways of living, the Noble Eightfold Path which is the path of right relations - right relations to God and to each other. The number "8", is the basic symbol for the Hierarchy, the eight streams of living electrical fire which emanate from the static but pulsating egoic jewel in the Lotus - (the dual blended reality of atma-buddhi) - and, in fact, of all of the centers for the etheric petals are really in form like a number of superimposed eights.

Recollect; there are eight centers if the spleen is counted and all of them are multiples of eight with the exception of the basic center which has four petals, one half of eight. The word petal is purely pictoral and symbolic; its use is intended to aid the student in his visualization stage. It is important to note however that a center is formed on the pattern of the "8". Here is the progression and the process. First, a circle, 0; then two circles, touching each other and making therefore an 8. Then, as the petals increase in number in the various centers, it is simply a growth of these double circles, superimposed at differing angles one upon another until the thousand-petalled lotus in the head is reached.

Do not forget; the eight centers are, in the last analysis, twofold or dual in function.

1. They demonstrate the form building aspect of divinity and through their activity bring the outer form into manifestation.

2. Then towards the end of the evolutionary cycle - both in the macrocosm and the microcosm - they bring into expression the soul force and life and produce the perfected incarnation of a fully revealed son of God, with all the powers and knowledge which divinity contains.

The tonal value of the 8 sounds in the 2nd ray "Word of Power" produces the expression of the sacred "9", the number of Initiation. Digit "9" embodies the power and potency of "Space", since "9", is the value of the Great circle. (3+6+0=9).

In Esoteric Philosophy the Universal Postulate upon which the whole of the Manifested Universe is based is the All-Presence of the Boundless Circle. The Circle, curving in upon itself, stands as the chief symbol of the Absolute Perpetual Motion and Endless Duration of the Unmanifest Logos.

In the region of Occult Metaphysics the Great Circle is the sign of the Unknown and the Unknowable Mover, or the truly Self-Existing One. The Circle symbolises pure Darkness, because it represents the hidden Absolute Light of Life itself. As a glyph, the plane of the Great Circle exemplifies the absolute homogeneous nature of the Divine Essence and the abstract body of the ever present abstraction - the cosmic Logos.

In Occult Cosmogony, Space is, in its abstract presence, the Unmanifest Logos itself, the Ineffable and One Unknown Cause. The idea of representing Absolute No-thing in the ideograph of the Great Circle brings to view the idea of the Universe emerging from and in boundless Space, the radiations from which are periodically aggregated into graduated forms from pure to gross Matter.

The fundamental dogma of Occultism is the Unity of all in Nature, in its ultimate Essence. Every new period of Universal Manifestation or World "Creation", occurs out of the Eternal Esse, the pre-existent eternal Substance, or Matter, which Substance is the Boundless Ever-existing Space, best symbolized by the Great Circle. In the Circle therefore, we see the idea of the eternal immutability of the One and the changelessness of that Principle.

The Circle, the archetype of all round figures, contains a triad in its construction composed of center, space and circum-ference. It is the inherent triad formed by the construction of the Circle which gives rise to the idea of the triple hypostasis of the Unnamable and Unknown Essence, the Threefold Being of the Absolute Life, the Root of the seven fundamental Cosmic Principles.

In Occult Philosophy, therefore the body of the Unknown Life , is best symbolized by digit "9. It is the sacred number of the 3rd ray Logos of the Pleiades - (origin of the Central Spiritual Sun) and the celestial center to which all cosmic ray motion is ultimately referred. Number "9", as earlier stated, is the chief number of Initiation, or of the major Initiations of Manas, wherein man becomes a perfect Nine. The "9", indicates that in all threefold manifestation - (the three major aspects Monad/soul/personality0 - there is a ninefold unfoldment of consciousness.

Again, understand that in the decimal system digit "9", represents the limit of the digits - the extent of the form life. In its chief character then, this means it stands for the whole body or form, the third Principle. The Triple Ternary, or the "9", is the Divine Glyph of the Immaculate Mother, the third major aspect of the Creative Logos. The Sacred "9", therefore, signifies the intelligent working out and material expression of the Divine Idea of the Plan. Its Cosmic Figure embodies the capacity to bring objectivity into recognised Divine expression and is the Universal Symbol of the intra-cosmic flux and flow, the electrical energy of substance itself, the fusion of Spirit and Matter. As a Numerical Letter in the Divine Alphabet it really stands for pure materialism linked with the distribution of matter and the scattering of the atoms - the basis for the separative action of atomic matter.

Number "9", is the Universal Numerical Symbol of synthesis on the physical plane and embodies the potency to manifest all aspects of the Great Plan of the Celestial Logos. It is therefore of profound symbolism that the value of the sound of SXPRULXS is the sacred "9" -- because this serves to link us directly to the source of the Central Spiritual Sun, Alcyone, whose origin is in the central heart of the Logos of the Pleiades. Ponder on this. In the light and of the central spiritual sun the initiate polarizes himself, and from that point of universal life, reality and light he works.

The [AN] value of SXPRULXS is the "36". The number "36" stands for the natural divisions of time on the universal plane of nature, best symbolized by the ecliptic or apparent path of the sun as it sweeps around the plane of the circle described by the 360 degrees of the Great Wheel of the Zodiac.

Number 36 ever brings to mind the idea of the 12 signs and the 3 Crosses - (3x12=36) and the cyclic operation and transmission of the seven principal ray energies through the 12 signs of the zodiac, into our solar system. The numbers "3", and "6", also signify the three major threads which are in reality six, if the creative thread is differentiated into its component parts, form the antahkarana. They embody past and present experience and are so recognized by the initiate. Let me continue now with a more detailed analysis of the dual word of power of the second ray of Love.

Continuing now with the idea of the 2nd ray dualism of the "word of power" held firmly in mind, note, how the opening sequence of eight sounds begins with the 1st ray sound of the "s", and immediately proceeds to the 6th ray sound of the "x". (Will to Desire).

The same two sounds of the "x" and the "s".close the series of sounds. Four letters, a separate quaternary of figures is contained with the two sets of "S's" and "X's". If we read the word of power forwards or backwards, the identical two numbers commence the sequence.

Again, these are the "1" and the "6" and their dual placement opening and closing the sequence of letters is important to note. Their combined value in both cases is number "7". The six-pointed star symbolizes the "6",forces or Powers of Nature, all synthesized by the "1", the seventh or central point.

This is in exact correspondence to the central position of the star Alcyone in the Pleiades, and the Pleiades in relationship to the other six centers. The "central one" surrounded by the six is an occult law and the expression of the highest cosmic truth. In the "1" and the "6" we see the cosmic desire of the Father for the Mother - the esoteric cause of the marriage of spirit and matter.

Whether read forwards or backwards, from above below or below above, the two outer duads, may be viewed as forming a separate quaternary, the "x" and the "s", and are like, if I may so express it, a set of bookends or brackets which contain an inner quaternary of figures, sounds, mantric values and hidden potencies.

This is of significance to note because the numerical value of the sounds which compose the inner PRUL produce the famous and magical "22", the "Mystical number of the Adept".

The theme of fundamental duality runs throughout the whole idea of the dual 2nd ray word of Power. This is indicated, once again by the combination of the "2", and the "2" side by side. Again, note here how I have divided the Word SXPRULXS into a dual symbol yet again with an inner quaternary and two outer duads which in themselves form another quaternary. Correspondingly, note how the [Reduced Alpha Number] value of the PRUL is "4".

Again, herein another major and fundamental duality is indicated. In the combination of the outer "5" of the SXXS, which is its [Reduced Alpha Number} and the inner [RAN] value of PRUL, the "4", is produced the necessary "9" of initiation. We see the symbolism here of the union of buddhi-manas, producing the divine hermaphrodite and the number "9", the number of initiation - the numerical value of the 2nd ray word of Power - SXPRULXS.

I have sought to explain the major occult significances of the 2nd ray word of Power SXPRULXS . There are, of course, more hidden meanings, interested students may extrapolate and abstract for themselves, contained with its magical anagram.

Above all else, I have endeavored to show that it is essentially dual in nature and is related to the central spiritual sun and expressions of monadic groupings based on universal recognitions, and not to soul consciousness.

My difficulty in explaining the higher meaning of the external simplicity of the eightfold sound of SXPRULXS has been great. Each of you can only arrive at the inner meaning yourself as you contemplate and reflect always that the clue or key to its right comprehension lies in the recognition of the existence of the "way of higher evolution," of the light which is distinctive of Shamballa, and of the use of the antahkarana, (as it by-passes) the soul and so carries the human, yet spiritualized consciousness into the realms of Shamballa.

I have utilized a second ray presentation of the chief ideas contained within the eight sounds of the 2nd ray word of power. I have shown that its numerical and geometrical form lay behind all form manifestation.

When correctly understood the "word of power" with its dual phrases reveals to us the fundamental and basic 2nd ray building patterns of the universe. Let me reiterate that SXPRULXS is a revealing pattern. It is related to the world of meaning and, as an esoteric symbol, is to be found behind all exoteric forms. It has a unique reference to the pattern of the initiate-consciousness, both universal and individual and serves to integrate the two. Its right comprehension and correct use results in the presentation of certain great creative patterns connected with the integration of the "lesser forms into a greater whole".

To the disciple and the initiate who employs it correctly and with understanding is indicated the 2nd ray energy direction as a definite part of the creative work with the rightly oriented energy patterns.

The anglo saxon translation of SXPRULXS is the five word phrase "I see the Greatest Light".

The 20 letters or sounds of the five words are highly symbolic as the number "5", as earlier explained, is the sacred number of the 2nd Ray of cosmic ray of Love and Fire, the source of the greatest light.

Dear Brothers,

In ancient India, the 2nd Ray "dual" Rishi was known as Vashishtha, "most wealthy" (born from Brahma's breathing). Vasishta is supposed to have been born as the result of Brahma's will power. He was a great ascetic, labored for the welfare of the world and a law-book and another on yoga are attributed to him. He was married to Arundhati, the companion star Alcor which was said to be the missing Pleiad of Taurus. Arundhati is famous for being virtuous and for devotion to her husband, and spent all her time in service to her husband, Vashishtha.

During a traditional Hindu marriage, the presiding priest usually shows the bride, a star called Arundhathi in the night sky. Sadhwi Arundhathi is the wife of the 2nd Ray Rishi Vasishtha. This famous couple from vedic times, well known for their harmony and devotion to each other,is revered as a an ideal couple worthy of emulation by all married couples. In India even presently, immediately after the wedding, the bride is shown Arundhati (Alcor) and she worships the star. It is a symbolic acceptance of the ideal of virtue and devotion by the bride. Vasishta had his hermitage on the banks of the river Saraswati (3).

The richest of the SEVEN RISHIS, VASISHTHA owned Nandini, the cow of plenty (offspring of Surabhi). As this cow was able to grant the Rishi of cosmic Love all his wishes, he became the master of every vasu (desirable object). The cow is said to have been produced at the churning of the ocean. H.P.B., relates it with Vach-Viraja, the daughter of Brahma.

Brilliant white and pale emerald, the two stars of 2nd Ray Rishi Arundhathi & wife Vasishtha are a naked eye double in the Triad of handle stars of the Sapta Rishi.

ALCOR or Arundhathi the companion star and only 11' distant is a 4th magnitude star and only people with excellent eyesight could distinguish it as a separate star. Alcor is a rapid spinner (218 kilometers per second, over 100 times solar). As a result, its atmosphere is stirred and its composition normal. It is, however, a slight pulsating variable with a mass around 1.6 times that of the Sun. Alcor is a fourth magnitude (4.01) white class A (A5) star with a temperature of 8000 Kelvin and a luminosity 12 times that of the Sun."

The 2nd ray rishi is the expression of the Ajna Center in the head center of the OAWNMBS. Please accurately note how the numerical value of the words Vasishtha and Ajna both equal "8". Also carefully note how the word AJNA contains three "1's", and one "5", thus replicating the [Alpha Number] value of the name VASISHTHA - the "35".

VASISHTHA/ARUNDHATHI

A double star, the 2nd or middle star of the Triad of three major Ray handle stars, the 2nd ray star of Rishi VASISHTHA is the first known "double star," one that consists of a pair of stars that orbit each other. Found to be double in 1650, Mizar and its double are an easy 14 seconds of arc apart (at least 500 astronomical units), the two taking at least a 2nd ray period of 5,000 years to make their orbit about each other. More remarkably, each of these two components is AGAIN double.

Astronomy teaches us that "the brighter of the two contains a very close pair a mere 7 or 8 thousandths of a second of arc apart that has an orbital period of 20.5 days; the fainter of them contains a pair with a period of about half a year. Mizar is thus actually a quartet of stars, a double-double. It is moving through space together with its more-distant companion, Alcor. Mizar and Alcor together therefore probably make a quintuple star, Alcor taking at least 750,000 years to make a single round trip around its quadruple companion. All of the stars are similar, all "main sequence" hydrogen-fusing stars like the Sun, but of white class A (the brighter both A2, the fainter probably both A5 or A7) with temperatures ranging between around 7500 and 9000 degrees Kelvin and luminosities from 10 to 30 times solar. The orbit of the brighter double that makes Mizar has been observed with a sophisticated "interferometer" that makes use of the interfering properties of light. Analysis shows the component stars to have masses 2.5 times that of the Sun; the masses of the fainter pair are estimated at around 1.6 solar. The stars have odd chemical abundances as a result of slow rotation, which allows for quiet atmospheres and chemical separation. The brighter of the pair seen through the telescope is rich in silicon and strontium, whereas the fainter is a "metallic line star" that is deficient in aluminum and calcium but high in silicon and in rare earths like cerium and samarium."
